This procedure provides you with;
Information on how to prevent transmission of infectious viruses from other people to you and, if you are unfortunate enough to become ill then from you to your family, workmates or the community.
Steps on how to Clean and Disinfect your Home & Clients Home
Actions to take if they, or a co-worker, become unwell with
suspected Covid-19.
1. Standard Precautions
These measures provide the best protection against acquiring infection in a pandemic situation.
Wash your hands often with soap and water after going to toilet, blowing your nose, or sneezing, preparing food, and after touching garbage.
Cover your nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing with flexed elbow or tissue.
Use Mask and Gloves especially when taking public transportation or taking care of a person who is sick. Dispose used gloves to the trash bin.
When taking Public Transportation/Uber/Carpool upon entering client’s house/apartment go directly to the bathroom and change clothes. Put your clothes inside a plastic bag. DO NOT touch it and leave it for 24 hours.
Caregivers and visitors are NOT allowed to use their shoes inside the client’s house/apartment.
Avoid going to crowded places.
Do not touch your eyes, nose, or mouth unwashed hands.
2. General Routine for Cleaning and Disinfections
Virus can survive in the environment for variable periods of time (hours to days) but it can be inactivated with standard disinfections.
Clean all ‘’high-touch’’ surfaces using alcohol-based wipes or spray containing at least 70% alcohol. Include counters, tabletops, doorknobs, bathroom fixtures, toilets, phones, keyboards, tablets, and bedside tables. Also clean any surfaces that may have blood, stool, or body fluids on them.
For soft surfaces such as carpeted floor, rugs and drapes. Clean the surface using soap and water or with cleaners appropriate for use on these surfaces.
For Clothing, towels, lines, and other items. Launder items according to the manufacture instructions. Use the warmest appropriate water setting and dry items completely.
Groceries MUST be washed using gloves and hot water.
Use gloves when removing garbage bags, and handling and
disposing of trash. Wash hands afterwards with soap and water.
3. Actions to take if they are become unwell with suspected with Covid-19
If you are NOT FEELING WELL call the office for replacement.
Caregivers who are not feeling well and has Covid-19 Symptoms are NOT ALLOWED to go to work until he/she is tested negative, within 24 hours and after minimum of 14 days of self-quarantine.
Isolate yourself. The Person who is sick should stay separated from other people in the house (as much as possible).
