Senior Home sharing can be a smart decision
What is Home Sharing?
Home sharing is an alternative housing option for people over 65. Two or more people can share the same living space and a caregiver. The concept of roommates is not new, but increasingly housing costs and limited budgets are a big decision makers when choosing this arrangement.
Finding and affording housing is a common struggle for the senior population. More than a third of retired seniors use more than 30% of their income in housing. This percentage is substantial considering that 40% of individuals 65 and older rely solely on Social Security for income.
Beyond the savings, shared homes can be very important to avoid social isolation. Some patients tend to isolate themselves and a homely set up with less people around, might be the perfect solution.
