Maintaining a meaningful life is as important than ever in your golden years.  We focus on helping residents help themselves as much as possible. We have a social and entertaining activities program that is flexible depending upon what the groups needs are for the day.  Our activities promote forming friendships and brain stimulation which is key to a full and happy retirement.

We create an environment that is booming with life. In the morning you will be awakened by the fresh smell of coffee and fresh pastries.  You and your loved ones can participate in all kinds of activities through out the day while soft music plays in the background.  Winding down the day, enjoy a bag of popcorn with a movie is something you can expect regularly at Senior Family Homes.

Activities

Our activities program is designed to promote mental exercises that help stimulate the brain and sharpen thinking, memory, reasoning, and processing skills. According to scientists, seniors can gain an additional 14 years of “cognitive youth” by practicing mental exercises. We are always rotating activities to keep things fresh.  Below are our residents favorite activities that can help  slow cognitive decline and improve mental capacity.

Puzzles such as jigsaw, lego, sudoku and crosswords are among the most popular of elderly mental exercises. Science has found that solving puzzles can be advantageous for both mental health and relaxation.

Crafts allow our residents to create with their own hands. Research shows people who do crafts have a 30% to 50% decrease in developing memory loss.  There are all types of crafting projects we offer to our resident seniors, such as collages, scrap booking, painting, knitting, ceramics, and coloring.

Gardening is a great calming and wellness activity for seniors to participate in, as it has been found to reduce the stress hormone cortisol.

Cooking is a fun way to exercise all five senses.  Residents find interesting recipes to try in our cookbooks or look online.  They develop new cooking skills as they test out complex recipes that they have never tried before.
